Large-scale equipment

Innovative, competent and reliable.

Since the company’s founding, PORR Bau GmbH – Department of Large-scale Railway Construction Equipment has developed into an international operator of railway construction machines. In the early years, the focus was on meeting the need for machines on the shareholders’ own construction sites. Today, PORR Bau GmbH – Department of Large-scale Railway Construction Equipment primarily cooperates directly with infrastructure companies or other railway construction firms.

The first machines to be used were gantry cranes for laying sleepers, a tamping machine with a ballast plough, and two four-spindle screw machines. This gave rise to the business areas tamping, laying and screwing. Over time, other service areas were added: milling, conveying – storing – unloading, track surveying and vegetation control.

For technical availability you can rely on, you need a high-quality machine fleet. The machines used by PORR meet all the quality standards prescribed by the state institutions, such as the EBA (Federal Railway Office) and the BMK (Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology). For that reason, the machine fleet of PORR Bau GmbH – Department of Large-scale Railway Construction Equipment is maintained and repaired as specified by railway manufacturers and administrators. Railway administrators perform annual examinations and acceptance tests.

We also train our personnel on a regular basis so we can meet the highest expectations.
